The last Mothers day you were here. Wondering... If you were going to make it through the day, Watching.... You, looking so peaceful. Waiting.... For the day to end while you were still here. Hoping.... You knew we were there with you. Saying.... How much we still needed you and loved you. Wanting.... To keep you here with us. Knowing.... It was just a matter of hours, not days. Thankful.... That you were not in pain. Trying.... Not to cry, in case you could hear us. Praying.... For strength to make it through. You waited and then at the dawn As the sun appeared and the sky turned blue.... You were gone. Now, thirty years later It feels like just yesterday That you left us On the day after Mother's day. I regret not telling you enough How much I loved and cherished you. You were never comfortable with Displays of affection and emotion too. You kept everything inside And passed that onto me.
