I met you on Sunday,
And loved you on Monday.
You swept me off my feet,
Made my life complete.

I will never forget that day,
Seems like just yesterday.
You took my hand and said hello
And neither of us wanted to let go.

The electricity was like a fire
Rushing between us with desire.
It began with fireworks exploding-
I should have sensed the foreboding.

It was a Sunday afternoon in fall,
Sunny blue skies as I recall.
Leaves blowing in the breeze,
Me blushing when you teased.

While it lasted, it was quite an affair,
You were the answer to my every prayer.
You were everything I wanted to be
You were the missing piece that completed me.

Looking back I should have known
I could never keep you as my own.
Eventually, a free spirit has to roam
Leaving another all alone.

I can’t regret the time we had
The love was good… Never bad.
Now, after all these years
Remembering still brings me tears.

Your spirit may roam in the great beyond
But the love we shared still lives on.
I met you on Sunday… loved you on Monday
Darlin’, I know we’ll meet again… someday.
