I knew love
In my time.
To me....
Love was kind.
The first boy I loved
Was my very first friend.
I have a picture when we were three
And I'll love him until life's end.
When I was in grade school
At about eleven
I had a school girl crush
On a neighbor friend.
It lasted all summer
'Til he moved away
But I still remember him
... Even today.
I moved on to puppy love
When I was a teen
I thought it was real,
I was only sixteen.
Got married so young
In no time it was done,
But Love was still kind
It gave me a son.
There was one love
Years ago, in my past,
It broke my heart
That it didn’t last.
Once or twice
I met someone new
But no one could fill
The love that I knew
Then, when least expected,
One man stood out
From all the rest
His love turned out
To be the best.
Yes, I knew love well
During my life-
The good, bad, sad and
A few that caused strife.
Each one changed my life
In some way, and...
Made me the person
I am today.
Real love never dies.
I’ve known love in all it’s glory,
It lives on as treasured memories.
Love is the heart and soul of my life’s story.
