"If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older"
Abraham Sutzkever

My dreams are changing
..... Rearranging.
This is a brand new time
Finally, this time is mine.
No goals to set,
No stuff to get.
No needs to fill,
Do what I will.
Sometime lazy,
Other times crazy.
Thoughts start one way
…Drift another way.
Books to read,
Garden to seed.
Music to hear,
Nothing to fear.
Nothing but time now
But still, not enough somehow.
Months going too fast,
Slowing down to make them last.
Get to see the kids more,
At least more than before.
Summer’s here, we’ll have some fun,
Forget the work… it won’t get done.
Sit beneath a sunny sky,
Watch the clouds rolling by.
Smell the flowers…
Dream for hours.
Always thought getting old would be tough,
I love this time… can’t get enough.
Sometimes feel like a kid again,
Dreaming my dreams of way back when.

To be seventy years old is like climbing the Alps.
You reach a snow-crowned summit,
and see behind you the deep valley
stretching miles and miles away,
and before you other summits higher and wider,
which you may have strength to climb, or may not.
Then you sit down and meditate and wonder which it will be.
