A Soldier Weeps

Today a soldier weeps

He watched his buddy die.

What more can he do

But stand and wonder why?

Yesterday they were U S Warriors.

Young men and women far from home.

Fighting for the freedom of a people

Who now want to be left alone.

Today they're trying to be peacekeepers

To people who only hate them

And one by one we're losing our loved ones

For a freedom not appreciated.... when will it end?

Do I want to yell and protest?

You're damn right I do!

Will I go out carrying a sign?

No... What good does that ever do?

To scream and shout and create havoc

To march and block traffic... is not my way.

But several times each day and night

I take a moment to stop and pray.

I pray for their families here at home

I pray for the troops in danger there and everywhere.

I pray for a country lost and confused

...I pray for stability there.

Meanwhile... Another soldier weeps

Someone's lost another child or a spouse today.

In protest... Write and let our leaders know

It's time for our troops to come home to stay.

And when you have some time in your day

Please... stop a moment and pray...

I support our troops, I am proud of every one of them

That does not mean I support the decisions of our government.
