Once upon a time
Many years ago...
A couple traveled far,
Through the desert they would go.
There were no cars or trains
And no such thing as planes.
The young woman rode a donkey,
While her husband walked and held the reins.
It took them weeks to get there
And they arrived there late at night.
All the inns were full
With not a room in sight.
The woman, named Mary,
Knew the time was near
For her to bear a child -
And a kind old innkeeper told them
They could use the stable for awhile.

The night was cold, they had no heat
So her husband, Joseph,
Gathered up some straw.
The babe was born at midnight
And that is when they saw -
An Angel appear before them
As a brilliant star shone in the sky.
The angel said a king was born,
The Son Of God on high.
The baby’s name was Jesus
The King of Kings is He.
He came to earth for us,
To save our souls, you see.
He gave us faith and hope
And everlasting love.
He lived and died for us-
Our Saviour from above.
